boondockers 15 off

I spent a couple of nights on Carpinteria State Beach in March. It was a bit chilly and windy when I arrived which is why I did not have an issue finding a spot. It’s been raining a lot lately, so the sand and the benches were wet. The park is in a prime location, right on the beach, so the prices are high.

If you get an Oceanside spot, your back of the RV is facing the beach which is nice. If you are in the second or third row, you feel like you are in a parking lot. The spaces are very close to one another.

Each site comes with a picnic bench and table.  The park seems well maintained, it is close to downtown. The bathrooms are clean, they have coin showers. If you have a bicycle, bring it along, you can bike to town or around the campground.

Cons:

The park is right by the train tracks, you will hear trains going by all day long. Bring earplugs!

I’ve seen some transient traffic, people are walking around who don’t seem to belong to the park. I would not feel safe leaving my bicycle out.

Internet:

I had only 3G Spring reception and my Verizon MiFi was fine. Not the fastest.

Overall I like it here. It’s probably very nice in the summer when the weather is warmer and you have more daylight hours to enjoy.
