Halfmoon Bay State Camping is located on a beautiful beach. The maximum length for an RV or a camper is 40 ft, so if you have a larger one than that, don’t bother going. There are in total 52 camping spaces and none have hookups but there was a dump station. There was a laundry facility that used quarters, however, most of the machines weren’t working. The amenities are lacking, to say the least- but it’s not a luxury RV park, it is on the beach so I didn’t care. It was an extremely windy and cold night, and although the beach is definitely gorgeous, it was not the right time to get a tan. From what the staff said, the water is cold like that year-round.

Halfmoon Bay has some incredible hiking trails and a long paved trail right by it. If you are intending on camping at Halfmoon Bay, I highly recommended going for a hike on at least one of the trails if it’s not one of the cold nights in December.

Dogs are allowed everywhere, including on the beach. There is no specific designated area for dogs. There is a charming hike along the beach shore which, when you walk it, seems as though you are in a movie or a storybook. It’s breathtaking.

I would return to Halfmoon Bay State Beach in a heartbeat simply because it is a very beautiful beach, the scenery is gorgeous. This is a great place for people with kids to go, and backpackers and people who enjoy outdoor tent camping.
