I spent a few days at Lake Skinner County Park with a Meetup group from San Diego. The park is huge, basically flat which is great for RVs. All sites I saw had benches and fire rigs. It was nice to sit around the fire at night. Some of the people from the group visited a winery nearby and had lunch in one of the fancy restaurants. There are many wineries with restaurants in the area it can be a fun day with friends!
Lake Skinner Camp Ground
For those that love camping, hiking and some fun in the water Lake Skinner is the place you want to see. Nestled in the rolling hills of Winchester California is this great little recreational park that has everything a person who loves the outdoors could want. Enjoy sports such as camping, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing with the whole family.
I only saw motor boat rental, no kayaks but if you own one you can bring it with you.
You are not allowed to swim in the lake but there is a playground and a water sprinkler area for the kids that is open during summer. The trails offer shade while hiking or biking. There are several different campground sites to choose from, over 240, all of which with great views and access to the campground store. The store sells basic necessities as well as fish and tackle, and more. Parking is easy, with plenty of space available even for those looking to bring their trailer or RV with them. And there are full-hookup sites with electric, water and sewer. Picnicking is also easy with the barbecues available in shaded areas to enjoy. There are some nice benches around the lake as well.
For those that are looking for something fun to do with adults, there are wine tours that are available since the Temecula wineries are only a few miles away. And they make it easy to plan than most, with travel service to and from the winery.
Pets are also welcome for an extra fee. I took a picture of the prices which you can see below. I highly recommend this park.
