Santee Lake is definitely an RV owner’s dream. There are 300 full hookup campsites, all of which include free Wi-Fi and there are even a few that have cable and phone connections. The area and many sites are shady and private. Santee Lake also has an abundance of clean and well-stocked restrooms. Did I mention that there is a laundry facility, as well as a Jacuzzi and not one, but two swimming pools? One important thing to mention is that there is only one humongous “community” campfire, instead of separate fire pits at each campsite. Of course, the best things about Santee Lake are the endless activities available, the gorgeous views, and the peaceful, quiet setting.

As an RV owner, I really appreciate that the RV part requires an access card to enter, which helps keep your things safe. While ATVs are not allowed, you can bring a golf cart or a 4-wheeled utility vehicle to make it easier to get around the grounds. Something else to note is the community clubhouse, which is open for potluck dinners on Wednesday nights, coffee on Thursday mornings, and Friday night family night.

If you enjoy fishing, you will appreciate that lakes 6 and 7 are only open to campers, so you’re almost certain to walk away with something. Of course, there’s boating (pedal boats, rowboats, canoes, and kayaks can be rented on-site), swimming, and plenty of ducks that kids will love to feed. There are plenty of hiking trails to choose from, as well as bikes you can rent (tandem, cruisers, single and double surreys). There are floating cabins on the water that people with no RV can rent. As an added bonus for families, there are seven different playgrounds, which include a Tot Lot, Mega Tower, and a Sprayground which kids tend to love.

Overall, Santee Lake is a gorgeous recreational preserve that offers RV owners a number of great amenities that aren’t found in most parks. Without any doubt, it is well worth a visit.
